      <image:caption>Annapolis, Maryland 6 years of continuous support STAIR is an early intervention tutoring program free to second grade students who are reading below grade level. STAIR tutors work to increase the student's self-worth and self-esteem while increasing their reading skills. Each STAIR student receives twice a week one-on-one reading tutoring after school from the same STAIR-trained adult tutor from October through May. Over 140 tutors work with teachers and parents to provide a warm and caring environment for each student. The STAIR program has graduated over 300 Anne Arundel County 2nd graders over the last 12 years. STAIR students improve their reading scores by 50% and are on the way to becoming strong and confident readers with good comprehension skills.</image:caption>
